Lovely stay in a hotel in a great spot at the bottom of Loch Ness. The room was clean and simple but nothing to write home about. The bathroom could do with an update and the room we stayed in (18) must of been above an extractor fan or dishwasher/washing machine as it started early in the morning and until the evening, so not the most relaxing. Everything else is great, we had a Tasting Menu and enjoyed the most amazing Breakfast. All foraged and fresh. Would definitely come back but wouldn’t stay in another room.
This is simply an incredible place to stop by. Located within walking distance of Loch Ness, if you are travelling to Inverness or Fort William, it is an oasis of hospitality and delicious food. I tried the most delicious lemon cake of my life and felt the homely comfort and kindness of the people who work there. Magic.
From the moment we arrived at The Lovat in Fort Augustus, we felt genuinely welcomed, not just checked in. The warmth of the greeting set the tone for a stay that felt personal, thoughtful and quietly exceptional throughout. The festive atmosphere was magical. Fireside Christmas carols with complimentary mulled wine and mince pies created a sense of togetherness that was relaxed, joyful and authentic. Returning to our suite to find a beautifully lit Christmas tree waiting for us was such a thoughtful touch and instantly made the space feel like a home rather than a hotel room. Christmas Day itself was outstanding. The Christmas lunch was spectacular, truly gastronomic, beautifully presented and impeccably paced. Every course felt considered and celebratory, making it one of the most memorable Christmas meals we’ve ever had. What truly sets The Lovat apart, however, is its people. The team were attentive without ever being intrusive, warm, professional and clearly proud of what they do. Caroline, the owner, was front and centre throughout our stay, personally ensuring guests were comfortable and happy. Her presence and genuine care set the tone for the entire experience. And if all that wasn’t enough, starting Boxing Day with the Loch Ness Dook was the perfect, joyful Highland touch, invigorating, communal and unforgettable. This is hospitality done properly: generous, heartfelt and memorable. We’re already planning when we can return.
Wow fantastic stay over Christmas. We felt very welcome from the first moment at the Lovat Hotel. We booked the master room and were very impressed of this fantastic room with bathtub, view on Loch Ness and personal christmas tree. Singing carols at the fireplace was a very heartwarming atmosphere. We also had the big 9 course menu at the restaurant. Delicious menu and unique experience with local scotish food and traditions. On christmas morning we got a big christmas sock with nice presents. Thank you very much to all the team for this fantastic stay at the Lovat!
Had a fantastic stay at the Lovat. The place is very cozy, and the food was absolutely amazing, breakfast included. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. You can really tell they think about every detail of the experience, which makes the stay feel truly unique. The service was outstanding from start to finish. Highly recommend!
Beautiful hotel nestled at the base of Loch Ness. Perfect location for a romantic break away. We stayed one night during a week tour around different areas of Scotland. Enjoyed a pre dinner cocktail in the lounge area which had a perfect ambience with the open fireplace and chilled musical backdrop. Tasting menu was absolutely second to none and the staff so knowledgeable and friendly. Breakfast also equally as enjoyable with many items made on site and again great service. Only downside was the room location as mentioned, but after unpacking and settling into the room and not being great at complaining didn’t raise this, I’m sure a room swap may have been accommodated if available. Also knocked down a star as although we had a very warm welcome, we felt departure rather cold and disappointing in comparison.
Pleasant and very clean room close to the lake and centre of town. We arrived here on Christmas Day and prior to our arrival the reception team checked in to make sure that we would have everything we need and offered us food hampers since everything in the town was closed. (The food hamper itself was very delicious and filling with a lot of variety!) Really great service that made our stay very pleasant!
Great hotel and restaurant. We stopped there for 1 night just before New Year’s Eve. The hotel is stylish and cosy. Room was quiet and clean. Dinner and breakfast were outstanding. Great value for price. Staff were very professional and friendly. Special mention to the gentleman that took care of our table for the dinner and breakfast. Passionate and kind. He really added value to our experience.
